Lake Iseo or Lago d’Iseo or Sebino is the fourth largest lake in Lombardy, Italy, fed by the Oglio river.
It is in the north of the country in the Val Camonica area, near the cities of Brescia and Bergamo. The lake is almost equally divided between the Provinces of Bergamo and Brescia. This is a heavily industrialised part of the world, but the area remains one of outstanding natural beauty. The road north to Switzerland used to run along the side of the lake, and stories about entire families being swallowed up by the murky waters abound. A much safer road, carved into the side of the mountains, now exists.
-

Postprocessing RAW:– lights and saturation
—</strong

————————————————————————————————————————

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a covered double arcade formed of two glass-vaulted arcades at right angles intersecting in an octagon; it is prominently sited on the northern side of the Piazza del Duomo in Milan, and connects to the Piazza della Scala. Named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of united Italy, it was originally designed in 1861 and built by Giuseppe Mengoni between 1865 and 1877.

A Fobello nacque Vincenzo Lancia,
fondatore dell’omonima casa automobilistica.

———————————————————————————————————————–

Brunate is an Italian town and commune, part of the province of Como, near Lake Como (northern Italy, 50 km north/east from Milan).
Brunate is famous for its landscapes: the whole Alps can be seen on very sunny days.
Brunate has 1,770 citizens, but is much more populated in summer, when tourists rent houses and apartments.
A funicular connects Brunate down to Como. Very interesting trekking paths start from Brunate.
Alessandro Volta lived in Brunate for a short period and the prominent Bulgarian poet Pencho Slaveykov died in the town on 10 June 1912.

Well as the title states this was taken just before the sun rose to after it set on Dec. 31st 2011. I needed something to do while waiting for the fireworks at midnight so I decided to take a timelapse of sorts and merge them all into one frame. For 17 hours I sat at the Partner’s hub directly in front of the castle clicking my camera away every so often all the while guarding my tripod from the other tourist walking by. Unfortunately for me my biggest enemy was myself as I think I tapped my tripod more times than the other people. Normally I would assume there wouldn’t be as many people in the shot but for New Year’s Eve they really packed in all the shows they could. I think I saw every show they had in front of the castle at least 4 times not to mention the other parades at least 2 times each. It was cool the first time, than the second time was for capturing pictures I missed the first time and after that I just sat and waited.

Someone asked to see the RAW photo of this shot… here it is. 4 images merged into one. You can see a block sitting in front of the danboard on the left. I actually had to merge one more photo from before the block landed in front of him. It only took 2 seconds to mask it out since the danboard didnt move at all and all my lights are consistent. Since it was against a blue background, it was easy to do blue screen removal to get the blocks on a transparent layer (not that cutting them out with the lasso would of been very hard since they are just blocks, but removing the blue using my After Effects method takes seconds). In the first pic on the left, you can see my hair in the upper left corner cause I was blowing the blocks over. I had to rebuild the Jenga set about 5 times before I finally got the pic I wanted. My after effects green screen removal technique can be seen in detail here: www.louish.com/2010/09/Easy_and_Perfect_Green_Screen_remo…

I also edited the mouth of the danboard on the left, I cloned his eye, and then enlarged the clone.

The Danbo text was created in Corel Draw X5, Text Written then I used the extrude tool to make it 3 dimentional.

The lighting for this photo was done with the following:
1/160 sec at f/11, 100mm 2.8L IS USM Macro Lens, ISO 400, 5D Mark II
AlienBee B800 in back at lowest power using my new UBR Background Reflector (white shovel reflector) to get a gradient in the blue background triggered optically. Background is about 5 feet away from subject.

Canon Speedlite 580ex II with shoot through white umbrella on left at 1/2 power triggered with RadioPopper JrX about 3 feet away.

Canon Speedlite 430ex II with shoot through white umbrella on right at 1/2 power triggered with RadioPopper JrX about 3 feet away.

I Don’t Think I Can Take it Anymore II
Challenge #84: Pain
2nd upload

This was the first image that came to my mind when I saw the theme for this challenge. I’ve always imagined that people who contemplate committing suicide feel pain — afraid and alone in the darkness.

Should be viewed on a black background for full effect

A special thanks to Haavard H for inspirational work (you really should check out his stream).

Technical details
